Summer School 2008Monday, August 04, 2008This years Queen Maeve Int. Summer School was yet again a great success. Pupils came from across the globe for all classes - places such as Dromahair, Kildare, Sligo, Ballintogher, Ballymote, Gurteen, Tubbercurry,Houston, Texas, Providence,USA, Australia, England and France.Mairtin Davy performed the opening ceremony while Fred McCormick performed the official launch of www.carmelgunning.com. Skip Healy - Flute maker and flute player was a great hit with the flute students and we hope to have him back again. Sean nos dancing and set dancing was particularly popular this year. The sets ceili surpassed all expectations with dancers from Tyrone, Glenties, Sligo, Dromahair,Collooney,Sooey and Gleann dancing the night away. Next years dates are 3rd August to 7th August 2009 inclusive closing the summer school with a sets ceili with the very popular lively Swallows Tail Ceili Band.
